23rd Defi Canderel
The 23rd Défi Canderel fundraiser benefiting cancer research, held on May 4, 2012, was a tremendous success. View Poster
As many of you know, the Goodman Cancer Research Centre relies on the Défi Canderel’s continued support. Through studentships and fellowships made possible by the annual Défi fundraiser, we are better able to train the next generation of researchers that will tackle this disease.
Again this year, many Montreal business community’s representatives sent their teams to participate in this annual “fun run” in support of cancer research pursued at the Goodman Cancer Research Centre and Institut du cancer de Montréal. As the crowds gathered in anticipation of the race, we were proud to see them, for the first time this year, at McGill’s Roddick Gates.
We are also extremely proud of our GCRC running team, composed of graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and research staff, which represented the Centre at the fundraiser. Through their efforts and team spirit, they were able to raise $3,151.00 for Défi Canderel. In addition, many volunteers from GCRC generously dedicated their time before and during the race to ensure its success. I want to thank all those involved, the runners and volunteers, for their efforts and enthusiasm.
All of you have set the bar higher for next year, and for that we are grateful!

23rd Defi Canderel 2012
Date: Friday May 4th, 2012 at 11:00 AM
It is this time of the year again when we are getting ready to participate in the Annual Defi Canderel. We are looking for a team of volunteers and a team of runners to represent GCRC on May 4th.
Runners: Dmitri Kharitidi has volunteered again to look after the organization of the runners team. Thus, if you wish to run in the Defi Canderel Race please send a quick email to Dmitri (firstname.lastname@example.org) to indicate your willingness to run. Also, since we are looking into providing GCRC T-shirts to all the runners, we will need the size of the T-shirt for you. Most importantly and drawing on success of the previous year, I would like to challenge each runner to fundraise for this run. The aim this year is to collect $2,500 from our team (last year we brought over $ 1,600). At the end of the run the person who raised the most money will receive a prize.
Volunteers: Leah Donnelly (email@example.com) will help coordinate the team of volunteers. Please send her your availability. There will be a meeting scheduled during the week of April 16, 2012 where the volunteer tasks will be discussed. We will send you more details once the group of dedicated volunteers is identified. Please keep in mind that if you can’t participate on the day of, we can find few tasks you can help us with before the run.
On behalf of GCRC administration I would like to thank all of those who will participate this year. I am looking forward to working with you again this year.
