23rd Defi CanderelThe 23rd Défi Canderel fundraiser benefiting cancer research, held on May 4, 2012, was a tremendous success. View Poster As many of you know, the Goodman Cancer Research Centre relies on the Défi Canderel’s continued support. Through studentships and fellowships made possible by the annual Défi fundraiser, we are better able to train the next generation of researchers that will tackle this disease. Again this year, many Montreal business community’s representatives sent their teams to participate in this annual “fun run” in support of cancer research pursued at the Goodman Cancer Research Centre and Institut du cancer de Montréal. As the crowds gathered in anticipation of the race, we were proud to see them, for the first time this year, at McGill’s Roddick Gates. We are also extremely proud of our GCRC running team, composed of graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and research staff, which represented the Centre at the fundraiser. Through their efforts and team spirit, they were able to raise $3,151.00 for Défi Canderel. In addition, many volunteers from GCRC generously dedicated their time before and during the race to ensure its success. I want to thank all those involved, the runners and volunteers, for their efforts and enthusiasm. All of you have set the bar higher for next year, and for that we are grateful! Peter Siegel Interim Director, Goodman Cancer Research Centre April 23, 2012
